Robin Seir was born in 1986 in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2016 he completed his training at the Royal Academy Schools in London, continued his studies at the Chelsea College of Arts in the same city and furthered his training at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. He currently lives and works in London.

Among the recent exhibitions include: Variations in Scandinavian Abstraction, at the Galleria Brandstrup in Oslo and Hands Off at the NAM Project in Milan, held respectively in 2016 and 2015. In 2017 is held the personal exhibition Continuum at the Gether Contemporary in Copenhagen and he participated at the group show entitled 999 at the The Fireplace Project in New York. In 2018 he took part at the exhibition called Jenny Brosinski + Robin Seir at the Union Gallery in London and Nordic Features: Jesper Skov Madsen, Robin Seir & Lars Morell at the Belgian gallery Stephane Simoens in Knokke.

Robin Seir’s works are involved visual elements: such as icons, logos and typographic signs, derived from contemporary communication devices. He appropriates these elements to focus on their ocular, tangible, and stylistic values.

The back-drop against which these visual elements rest is heavily worked: stains, patches, scratches are all carefully exposed in a meticulous process of layering.

In the monochromatic back-drops contrapose the liveliness of organic marking mark-making, while simultaneously evoking the sterility inherent in large expanses of metal.
